Sweetheart Jewellery is run by Alison Houston. All jewellery items are handcrafted by Alison at her home studio in Greenock, Scotland. She is a self taught jewellery designer and maker who started out making jewellery as a hobby, but due to the demand for her jewellery she soon found herself with a full time business to run.

“I started making jewellery to fulfill a creative urge, at the time I was studying interior design, which can be a lengthy process with a lot of practical and technical work involved, I found I needed a hands on creative pursuit, something solid and tangible which could be worked quite quickly, also at that time I was inspired by the practice of Feng Shui, which introduced me to crystals and their powers to heal the mind and body. This is where my fascination with gemstones and crystals began, which in turn lead to my jewellery making.

It’s not just seeing the beauty of the completed jewellery pieces I adore; it’s working with the crystals, the spiritual quality of these stones, the colours, textures and tactile quality as well as the obvious beauty of the materials I work with. I hope to be introducing stone setting and silver working in the near future. I will be sourcing new materials and expanding on my designs as well continuing to educate myself with this beautiful art form.
